The human right to a healthy environment, as the Mexican Constitution sets it, has still a long way to be fully recognized and validated before authorities.
Notwithstanding a decade of changes in the law, Legal Courts still deny legal standing to citizens when these request their protection against illegal permits or lack of protection of the environment.
More than ever we need to bring these matters to the courts. This is why our team has conducted several workshops to explain the main principals of the human right to a healthy environment as the National Supreme Court in Mexico has recognized them.
Participants learn about how these principals connect with current cases and concerns in the area and the main guidelines of the court process “juicio de amparo”as a way to enforce such principles before the authorities.
